Viola Yvonne Zachow

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our mother, grandmother and great grandmother, Viola Zachow on January 2, 2021 at the age of 80 years.

Viola was predeceased by her son Roger; husband George; her parents, Edouard and Rachael (Gregoire) Rheault; special oncle Armand and tante Annette Rheault; stepmother Rolande; sisters: Annette, Edith, Florence, Lorraine and step-sisters, Mona and Beatrice; brother Denis.

Viola will be lovingly remembered by her children:  Robert Morin (Lorna), Elaine Cameron (Wayne), Yvan Morin (Suzanne), Claude Morin and Marshall Morin (Joanna); grandchildren: Charla Klatt (Chris), Heath Morin, Nicole Cameron, Matthew Cameron (Deidre), Tara Cockerline (Ian), Libbey Morin (Donovan), Gennie Morin, Kaiden Morin and Kailee Morin; great grandchildren: Ethan, Owen, Kylie, Maddison, Kruze, Xavier, Dylan, Hudson, Lucas, Rogue and Ivy.  Viola will also be remembered by her sisters, Yolande and Janine; step siblings, Marcel and Marielle; brothers and sisters-in-law from the Morin side of the family; as well as numerous nephews and nieces.

Viola Yvonne Rheault was born on December 20, 1940 in the French-Canadian community of Somerset Manitoba. She lost her mother at a very young age and though she had a large, loving family this loss affected her deeply. Viola grew up and attended school in and around Somerset. Throughout her life she was proud of her francophone heritage.

She married Antoine Morin in 1957and they had six children together. Early on they lived in various communities around southwestern Manitoba including Winnipeg. In 1973 the family relocated to Weyburn which remained Viola’s home until her passing. She and Antoine later divorced and in 1986 she married George Zachow who sadly passed in 1996. In her retirement years Viola enjoyed many trips to Winnipeg to visit with her sisters and in-laws, spending time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren and visiting with her friends at Bison Manor where she resided.

A Service of Remembrance for Vi was held Saturday, August 21, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. from the TC Douglas Centre, 400 ~ 10th Avenue SE, Weyburn, SK with Kathy Labbie-Bella officiating. Interment followed the service at Griffin Cemetery, Griffin, SK with luncheon back at the TC Douglas Centre (lower level), Weyburn, SK. 

Viola’s family would like to extend our gratitude to the nurses and staff at the Weyburn General Hospital for their care and compassion during Mom’s final days.
