Victoria Metheral Obituary

It is with sorrow that the family of Tory Metheral announces her passing on Jan. 1, 2021 at the age of 86 years.

Tory is lovingly remembered by her husband of over 65 years, Ron, and her children: Laurie (Doug) Publack, Glenda (Jonathan) Kuhn, Marlo (Brett) Wilson, and Tyler (Carey) Metheral, and grand-children: Jason (Russell) Avramenko, Micki Bry; Nathan, Devin, and Alix Kuhn; Jacob, Cynthia, and Kira Wilson; and Mackenzie (Jenna) and Jarrett Metheral, and great-grand-children: James and Jack Dutfield, and Killian Avramenko.

She is survived by her brother John (Beatrice) Sidloski, sisters-in- law Rita Sidloski and Audrey Wilkinson and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents Gabriel and Maria Sidloski; sisters Jennie Stewart and Vera Tremblay; brothers Alex Sidloski, Roy Sidloski, and Andrew Sidloski.

Tory enjoyed the life she established with Ron on the VR, or Rock Bottom, farm just west of Weyburn. While involved in all aspects of farming, she raised four children, worked some at a coffee shop and selling marketing products, and maintained a beautiful yard. She readily welcomed visitors into their home and encouraged everyone to stay for a meal or take produce from the garden. Her children’s friends were accepted and treated as if they were her own. She cherished visits from her grandchildren and urged them to get outdoors and to be independent and was proud that she taught most of them to play crib. Whether it was work, socializing, crafting, trying new art projects, being an active member in various clubs, or keeping track of family, she always kept herself busy. Even though she missed the farm after they moved to Weyburn (even the birds at 4am and the weeds), she embraced the new opportunities it gave her. She will fondly be remembered for her sense of humour, her attitude to life and especially for the parties and gatherings with friends and family over the years. She will be greatly missed.

A Service of Remembrance was held Tuesday, January 5, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. at Grace United Church, Weyburn, SK with Rev. M. Barnabas officiating. Urn Bearer was Mackenzie Metheral. Interment followed at Hillcrest cemetery, Weyburn, SK.
