Vernon “Vern” Carl Lindsay, 87 years, of Stoughton, SK, passed away on April 24, 2026, with his wife by his side.
Vern was predeceased by his parents, Carlous “Carl” Spurr and Isobel “Bella” (Worsley) Spurr; his adopted parents, George and Annie (nee: Spurr) Lindsay; and several brothers and sisters.
He will be loved always by his wife, Carol; his stepchildren: Cindy Houston, Lionel (Cheryl) Fraser, Teresa (Al) Covey, Tracey Fraser, Tanya (Chris) Foster. Vern will also be remembered by his grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren and many special friends including, Tyler and Christine and family. He is also survived by his sister, Verna.
Vern was born March 28, 1939, in Rocanville, Saskatchewan. He was a devoted husband to Carol; their 23 years of marriage were filled with love, joy, and adventure. They spent summers camping at Katepwa and enjoyed travelling to Toronto Blue Jays’ games and Caribbean destinations for winter getaways. They also treasured time spent with their grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Vern was an incredibly talented man and a gifted finishing carpenter. He crafted cabinets and furniture, decks, and planters. He also had a green thumb and loved his roses, gladioli, and peonies; his yard was filled with trees, bushes, and blooming flowers. Vern took great delight in decorating their house and yard for Christmas. He built wooden yard decorations and made sure their home was glowing with Christmas lights. For several years, Vern played electric guitar and bass in the band Tumbleweed. He loved music and dancing—especially dancing with his beautiful wife. Vern was a very good golfer “back in the day,” and he loved boating and fishing.
A Celebration of Life was held on Sunday, May 3, 2026 at 2:30 p.m. at the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch #133, 401 Main Street, Stoughton, SK. Interment will be held at a later date.
