Tanya Myers Obituary

Tanya Ray Myers, late of Weyburn, SK passed away on September 12, 2025 at the age of 44 years.

She was predeceased by her father, Garry Myers; grandparents, John and Virginia Myers, Alva and Beryl Benjamin; her BFF/cousin, Dayna Beaton; aunt, Sandy Kmita; uncles: Barry Otten, Allan Rody, Gerry Ferguson and John Kmita. Tanya was reunited at the Rainbow Bridge with her beloved cats, Muffin, Dude and Moon.

Tanya is survived by her mother, Penny Myers; brother, Troy (Jolene) Myers; sister, Pam (Shawn) Horne; nieces, Courtney Myers (Colton Benson), Ashton Horne (Marshal Adkins); nephews, Jared Myers (Jayda Cameron), Preston Horne (Jaylynn Driedger); and her beloved cats: Baby, Georgie, Frank, Calvin, Hobbes, O’Ryan, Kevin McCattister, Aurora and Ducky. Tanya is also survived by her aunts and uncles: Joan Ferguson, Anita Myers, Ruth (Gary) Cleaveley, Karen Ruston, Diane Rody, Charlene Otten, Wayne (Corrine) Blomberg, Randy (Colleen) Benjamin, and Beverly (Larry) Mutter; as well as numerous cousins.

Tanya was born August 30, 1981 in Weyburn and was raised on the family farm just outside of Weyburn. The family always had animals while she was growing up, but she got her very own cat when she was around 5 years old and her lifelong love was ignited.

She somewhat reluctantly attended school in Weyburn all through from Kindergarten to Grade 12, attending Queen Elizabeth, St. Michael Jr. High, and Weyburn Comprehensive High schools, graduating in 1999.

She more enthusiastically attended school in Regina, earning her Esthetician & Make-up Artistry Diplomas in 2004 & 2005. She was a very talented make-up artist & has done some really amazing theatrical costume make-up for friends and family throughout the years, as well as glamour make-up for grads and bridal parties. Her artistic talents extended beyond make-up into drawing and painting as well.

Tanya also worked and was well-liked by all the residents at various nursing homes in Weyburn & Estevan until she received an on the job injury that was re-injured when she returned to work, so she was unable to continue working in the health care industry.

Following in her dad’s footsteps, she trained in Natural Healing Techniques then continued further in her training, earning her Reiki Master certificate. She gained a loyal clientele base and helped so many people feel better over the years until her own back injury progressed, restricting her ability to work as much.  She was always still willing to help friends and family as much as she could, even if it meant a middle of the night fixing session.

She enjoyed decorating and planning food & games for all the holidays and special occasions & baked many birthday cakes for friends and family.  She was always very generous with her time and talents, especially with her nieces and nephews, whose talents and accomplishments she was very proud to share with all who would look and listen.

She loved her family deeply and always enjoyed get-togethers to play cards and games with family and friends. Her cats were always welcome to attend the card games and often laid across the table and became part of the card piles.

Tanya was known as “the baby whisperer” and “the animal whisperer” because she could get babies and animals to calm down better than their own parents.  Her siblings and friends often relied on her to help with their children, especially on cross country moves.

It was never warm enough in Canada for Tanya, so she quite enjoyed her trips to the southern U.S. states and Mexico, soaking in the heat in Arizona, Southern California, Texas, North Carolina and Las Vegas, Nevada. She loved the beach, as long as she didn’t have to go into the water where she might encounter a fish. In addition to her southern travels she had fun tent camping in B.C., house boating in Ontario, and on various trips in the motor home with her family. Amusement parks were one of her special interests, so she attended them as often as possible.

Tanya’s generosity, healing abilities, and love of her family will live in our hearts forever and be missed by all.

A Service of Remembrance for Tanya was held on Saturday, September 27, 2025 at 4:00 p.m. from the Royal Canadian Legion, Weyburn Branch # 47, 150 ~ 3rd Street, Weyburn, SK.  Officiating was Judy Beck.  Interment is to be held at a later date.
