Stanley Dillen Obituary

Stan Otto Dillen, late of Griffin, SK passed away on October 18, 2022 in Merida, Mexico at the age of 72 years.  He battled bravely in his last weeks to overcome increasingly serious medical issues but in the end he went to be with the Lord.

He was predeceased by his father Richard; mother Christina; brothers, Charlie and Rick; sisters: Virginia Beaton, Mary Roller, Pat Jones and June Pass; and his sons, Thomas and Matthew.

Stan is survived by his wife of 48 years, Vicky (Victoria nee: Knill), his children Julie (Scott) and Luke (Meagan); grandchildren: Loganne, Asher, Ellie and Carter; sister Bonnie (Glen) Daku; his brother Will (Valerie) Dillen; as well as many nieces, nephews and in-laws.  He was a kind man who will be missed by friends and family alike.

He was born April 8, 1950 and enjoyed growing up on a farm in Griffin, SK, often telling stories about the antics he and his brothers and cousin would get into.  After school he briefly entered into the military but returned to Weyburn, SK and started working for SaskTel, where he stayed for 35 years.  After retirement he was able to pursue his dream of driving semis and had various jobs doing that before he fully retired.

Stan's volunteer work in the community was a big part of his life.  He spent years working with the United Way and helping with fund raising.  He was a volunteer firefighter for 21 years and eventually moved to being a team leader and safety officer and worked on the rescue truck.  He was awarded a federal award for long service from the Lieutenant Governor for work with the fire department.  He also worked with Civil Air Search and Rescue for 14 years.

In 1974 Stan married his wife Vicky (Victoria nee Knill) and remained happily married for 48 years.  He was proud father to Julie (Scott), Thomas (deceased), Luke (Meagan) and Matthew (deceased).  He loved his grandkids, Loganne, Asher, Ellie and Carter very much.  He loved to spend time with them, telling dad jokes, playing games and going for ice cream.  In his down time he enjoyed woodworking, gardening and puttering around the house.

Stan always had a big heart, big laugh and enjoyed the people around him. He will be missed by his surviving sister Bonnie (Glen) Daku and brother Will (Valerie) Dillen and many nieces, nephews and in-laws.  He was a kind man who will be missed by friends and family alike.
