Sharon was born in Oungre, SK on Dec 31, 1940. She grew up on the family farm south of Beaubier, very close to the US border. She attended schools at Norge School and she graduated from grade 12 at Lake Alma School. Sharon would share her stories of riding her horse along with her to school. She told many stories about her brother, Clare, and herself riding the horses in the hills south of Beaubier.
Sharon worked for a short time at the Canadian Bank of Commerce in Weyburn. She trained as a psychiatric nurse for two years and upon completion of that she began working at the Saskatchewan Hospital at Weyburn, Sask. She met Vernon Solie and they were married June 25, 1960. They lived in Weyburn, SK the first years of their marriage and then moved to Torquay, Sk and then settled in Beaubier, Sk. Sharon worked part time for the Beaubier Co-op. In 1973, Sharon began work at the Beaubier Credit Union from which she retired. While working for the Credit Union she served as supervisor at the Beaubier Branch of the Estevan Credit Union Ltd.
Sharon loved her pets and her flower gardens. Vernon was in charge of the vegetable garden. Their yard was like a park. Many people would stop and admire her beautiful flowers, as well as the large gold fish that were swimming in the pond. She kept these fish in a bathtub of water through the winter months .
Sharon loved to do art work, with acrylic and oil paints, which she displayed beautifully in their home. She painted on cream cans, saw blades, or anything she could get her hands on, as well as murals on the living room wall.
Beaubier was a good place to raise their three children, Candy, Wendy and Warren. Their grandchildren would come and spend the summer holidays with them. It was such a memorable time for the grandchildren, as well as the grandparents.
Sharon loved to travel. Her and Vernon would travel the highways in Canada as well as the USA, visiting many of the big cities and sights. They also took in some Blue Jay games. The majority of time Sharon was behind the wheel. She found great pleasure in driving .
After Vernon's passing in 2017, Sharon continued to live in Beaubier until her health started to fail. She moved to Radville and lived in the Golden Heritage residence until 2023 when she then moved to Weyburn Special Care Home where she passed away peacefully.
A Graveside Service was held on Monday, January 19, 2026 at 1:00 p.m. from the Saron Cemetery, Lake Alma, SK with Pastor Daryl Solie officiating. Luncheon followed at the Lake Alma Hall, Lake Alma, SK.
