He was predeceased by his parents, Milton and Clara (Brown) McKague; his wife Ruth; his sister Helen; father and mother-in-law, Ben and Isobel Paxman; sister and brother-in law, Dorothy and Gordon Ward.

Roy will be lovingly remembered by his children: Sandra Chicoine and her family: Deanne (Shayne) Slywka, Alison and Tyler Kifferling; Dennis McKague and his family: Michael, Aaron and Ashlee McKague;  Donna (Garth) Freeman and their family: Lisa (Corey) Hughes, David and Dallas Freeman; Marilyn (Vern) Soch and their family, Kristopher Soch and Adam (Sonya) Soch; great grandchildren: Ashlyn and Blake Slywka, Zakk, Audrina and Harlee McKague, Seth Sawatsky, Ryder and Jackson Hughes, Emma Soch; sister-in-law Joyce Gale; niece Janice Krushlucki; nephews, Arthur and Brad (Trish) Ward.

Roy was born May 1, 1928 at Colgate, SK.  Roy grew up on the farm at Tribune.  He attended Big Timber School until grade eleven, then quit to help farm due to his father’s illness.  On October 20, 1952 he was united in marriage to Ruth Paxman at Tribune United Church.  Roy and Ruth farmed at Tribune, the main products produced were turkeys, chickens, grain, beef and eggs.  Roy worked for Hanna Brothers out of Regina as a heavy duty mechanic in the 1960s.  Roy loved his hobbies – woodturning, machinist, archeology, lapidary work and fishing. He never stopped learning.  Roy loved to travel, Arizona, Texas and the Yukon being some of their destinations.

In 2008 Roy and Ruth rented an apartment in Weyburn.  Roy continued to drive to the farm tending his gardens, yard and his saskatoons until 2015 at which time he moved to Doris’s Place then to Tatagwa View. We are very grateful for the care he received while at Doris’s Place and Tatagwa View.
