Rocky Miles Fornwald was born on November 4, 1955 in Regina, Saskatchewan to Ralph and Leona Fornwald. Growing up he attended schools in Gladmar and Lake Alma and enjoyed being on the farm with his three brothers. His love for animals and being outdoors was evident in all he did.
He bought his first ranch in 1976 from Oliver Dokken. Shortly after he met Laurette Cherpin and they married in 1979. In 1980 Rocky and Laurette moved to his uncle Loren Bloor’s farm. They raised cattle and had many horses as Rocky always had a love for horses. He was also known for his beautiful gardens. In 1982 they had their first daughter Echo Dawn, shortly after in 1983 they had their second daughter Jade Allison. In 1985 they were blessed with another daughter Dove Dee Anne.
When he was not busy ranching Rocky was busy playing ball, curling, playing hockey, and he even coached the Lake Alma women’s hockey team. In 1987 they moved north to Squaw Rapids where they leased a government campground, and he started his outfitting business Rocky Miles Outfitting. He loved to hunt big game and fish on Tobin Lake. Rocky and Laurette met many wonderful people up there!
In 1996 Rocky and Laurette parted ways with Rocky staying up north in Carrot River. After health complications Rocky sold his outfitting business but stayed in Carrot River until he met Maria Haas. They later married in 2006. They enjoyed their married years together residing between Stoughton and Saskatoon. Rocky enjoyed reminiscing about the good ole hunting days, making extremely early birthday calls, and celebrating any occasion by raising a glass. His sense of humor and quick wit will forever be remembered and missed.
Rocky will be remembered and missed by his family.
