Born in Carievale, Saskatchewan, Bob grew up with a love for athletics, particularly baseball, excelling as a pitcher in his youth and was an active and dedicated member of 4H throughout those years. On May 11,1968, he married the love of his life and longtime sweetheart, Lucille Bauche of Antler, Saskatchewan.
Bob was a hard worker throughout his life. He began his career as a herdsman and later trained as a plumber’s apprentice. This change brought them to Weyburn in 1972 with their toddler, James. Soon after, Leanne was born. In 1973 Bob began working at Federated Coop as a Shipper/Receiver, a role he held with dedication until 1995, when health challenges led to an early retirement.
Bob will be remembered in the community as a friendly face at the Co-op Cafeteria, where he loved having coffee with his friends. He was known for his dry sense of humor and could always be counted on to share a timely joke or story. He was a man with a keen eye for "treasures," enjoying stops at second-hand stores and garage sales to add to his collections of pins, belt buckles, and antiques to name a few. He enjoyed woodworking until his stroke in 2005.
Above all, Bob was a family man. From volunteering with Cubs and Scouts to never missing his children’s sports games or tournaments, he was always there. Nothing stirred his heart more and made him prouder of his heritage than listening to his son and daughter performing with the Weyburn Legion Pipes and Drums Band. In later years, his pride shifted to his grandchildren, he loved nothing more than watching them shine in theater and musical performances.
Bob had a deep appreciation for the outdoors and was involved with the Nature Society, taking great pleasure in bird watching across Southern Saskatchewan. There was never an empty birdfeeder under his watch. An avid sports fan, he cheered loyally for the Blue Jays, Roughriders, Winnipeg Jets, and even the Raptors.
As a dedicated viewer of the Saturday Night Dance Party on Access, we find comfort in knowing that Bob is now at peace, tuning in from the best seat in heaven.
