Richard was born and raised in Weyburn and lived here his whole life. He grew up with three brothers (Vern, Walter and George) and a sister (Ruth). He married his loving wife in 1965 and together they raised four sons (Ken, Brian, Curtis and Jason). Richard was an avid ball player and played fastball in Weyburn for the Royals and the Cloverleafs. He took great pride in keeping his yard well maintained and was very meticulous. You would never catch Richard with a dirty vehicle. He worked for the City of Weyburn for 35 years working at the Parks Department, then the Weyburn Colosseum in the winter and the Weyburn Swimming Pool in the summer.
He retired in 2000. Richard loved watching his kids and grandkids play an array of sports. They would travel all across Western Canada to make it to every football, basketball, hockey, fastball, soccer, volleyball game and dance recital. You could always find him in the stands with the largest smile and full of pride. He enjoyed spending time with his sons snowmobiling and quadding. In his spare time, Richard loved watching curling, hockey and football on TV.
A Celebration of his life will take place at a later date.
