Marvin Dutchak Obituary

Marvin Dutchak, late of Yorkton, SK and formerly of Canora, SK, passed away May 30, 2020 at the age of 92 years.

He was predeceased by his parents, Joseph and Caroline Dutchak; his two brothers, Elmer and Richard Dutchak.

Marvin is survived by his wife of 69 years, Jean; his 4 sons: Ron (Jane) and family: Ian (Jessica) [Bennett & Nash], Brett (Krystal) and her children [Bruce & Scarlet], Grant (Shirley) and family: Braden (Jennifer) [Sophia], Brittany, Rick (Irene) and family, Meagan and Matthew,Brad (Holly) and family, Zoey and Noah; sister-in-law, Eleanor Dutchak and her family as well as numerous extended family members.

Marvin (Dad) worked all his life.  He was so proud of “barbering for 65 years”.  He opened the shop whenever someone needed a haircut and cut many “long time customer’s” hair at the Gateway Lodge in Canora. He also enjoyed playing his fiddle. Whether it was for the many weddings and dances he played over the years or just for his grandchildren at home. Dad also was an avid gardener and loved to share the rewards with his children. Visiting with his family, their friends and his coffee buddies was always a big part of his life.

Sadly, he had to give up his precious Barber Career when he was diagnosed with bladder cancer in 2014.  He beat cancer and marveled all who met him.

He had a mild stroke in the fall of 2019.  As his health deteriorated, the hard decision of moving to a nursing home was made.  In January, 2020, he was admitted to Langenburg Nursing Home and later transferred to Yorkton Nursing Home.  He was given great care at both nursing homes and for that, was sincerely appreciated by his family.

God called Marvin (Dad) home on Saturday, May 30, 2020.  He died peacefully with Jean (Mom) at his side. He will be so missed by everyone.  Our precious Dad and Papa is up there cutting hair, playing his fiddle, whistling and looking down and watching over us all.  We will love you forever.  God Bless!
