Mark John Lawrence

Mark Lawrence, beloved husband of Carolyn Lawrence of Calgary, AB, passed away on Tuesday, June 2, 2026, at the age of 69 years.

Mark was born in Weyburn, SK, on August 22, 1956. In the early 1990s, he moved to Calgary, AB, looking for work, started his career as a framer, later obtained his Journeyman’s license, and became a very accomplished finishing carpenter.  

He married Carolyn on June 25, 2005.

Mark was a member of the Freedom Order of Eagles, 2098 and enjoyed the sense of community. Mark, while he wasn’t a man of many words, loved to socialize and his giant stature made him noticeable in the crowds.

He will be most remembered for his love of dancing. He always wanted to dance with all the ladies in the hall. He said it gave him pleasure to put smiles on their faces and, let’s face it, he did like to flirt—all in good honest fun.

Besides his loving wife, Carolyn, Mark is survived by his daughters, Amanda (Michael) Novello and Melissa (Jason) Lawrence. He is also survived by his stepdaughter, Anita Ring; stepson, Jeffrey (June) Ring; and his three grandchildren, Haley, Zachary, and Mason Novello. He is also survived by his loving stepmother, Faye Lawrence; his brothers, Kevin (Cheryl) Lawrence and Scott(Laurie) Lawrence; half-brothers, Kurt (Janique) Lawrence and Gary (Natalie) Lawrence; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his birth mother, Joan Lawrence, and his father, Ferris Lawrence.

A Celebration of Mark’s Life will be held at the Fraternal Order of Eagles, 2098 (9303 – 5th Street SE, Calgary, AB) on Saturday, June 27, 2026, at 1:00 p.m.
