Lewis White Obituary

Charles Lewis White, late of Pangman, SK  passed away on November 25, 2018 at the age of 95 years.

Lewis was predeceased by his parents: Charles and Jean White; brothers: Hugh and John; son-in-law Graydon Travland.

Lewis leaves to mourn his wife Clara; his sister Betty McVety; his children: Carole White (Jean-Louis Caron), Marilou Travland (Rick Campos) Dorothea Trithardt (Gilbert), Lorna Rock (Morgan), Elwood White (Joy); grandchildren: Jasmine Travland (Dean), Brittany Travland (Ted), Keeley Craig (Jordan), Sean Trithardt, Braden Trithardt, Riley Trithardt, Austin Rock, Kelsie Rock,Caleb White, Skylar White and a great-grand daughter Gray Craig.

Lewis White passed away peacefully on November 25, 2018. Lewis was born in the White family farm home, 3.5 miles south of Pangman to Charles and Jean White. He grew up on the farm and enjoyed hunting with his hound dogs and his horses Splash and Tony. He took over the farm, expanding the grain operation but his true interest was working with cattle. He developed a purebred Hereford and Simmental herd and enjoyed taking his cattle to shows. He involved all his children in the 4-H club and also some of his grandchildren.

Lewis was very active in his church and his community. He served for many years on the boards of Bethel Mission, Pangman Hospital, Trossachs Camp, and Full Gospel Bible College. He was respected for his quiet wisdom and thoughtfulness. Lewis's faith in God was strong and he lived his faith on a daily basis. When people described Lewis, they spoke of his integrity, gentleness, compassion, and encouragement. He financially supported many missionaries and a highlight for Lewis was to visit his close friends Eldon and Louella Johnson in Burkina Faso.

Family was important to Lewis and he valued spending time with his brothers and sister, and nieces and nephews. He was very proud of his daughters and son, never missing an opportunity to talk about them to anyone who would listen. He loved to be with his grandchildren and taught them to drive long before driving age, ride a horse, snare a gopher, and appreciate nature. He was a ‘tease’ and laughed often with them.

Music was always a part of Lewis’s life. He grew up in a musical family and at a young age learned to play the violin. He continued this tradition with his own family and ensured that all his children were provided with a musical education. It gave him great pleasure to hear his children and grandchildren singing and playing music. What he loved most though was to hear Clara sing.

Clara and Lewis were married for 65 years and they were devoted to one another. They were partners through life and in his past few years, Lewis has been a kind and compassionate caregiver to Clara, always putting her needs before his own.
