Larry was born on April 16, 1954 in Weyburn, Saskatchewan. Most of his life was spent on the family farm. Larry could make his way home against blinding snow with a 5 gallon pail over his head. He never left the house unless he was wearing a belt and carrying a knife in his pocket.
When Larry saw an opportunity to enjoy life, he took it. On a hot day, the tractor would stop for a picnic and swim at Nickel Lake. When the wind dropped, it was a good time for an evening canoe ride. Perfect ice on the creek meant strapping on the skates. Enough snow on the big hill saw the family heading over with toboggans and skis. Stargazing, motorcycle rides, ice cream and more, Larry shared them all.
Busy or not, Larry always had time for a chat or a visit. A visitor never felt that Larry had something better to do. Ever the optimist, Larry was always welcoming with ready smile and quiet, distinctive wit. He was Bob Dylans’s Number 1 Fan.
A Service of Remembrance was held Saturday, July 22, 2023 at the Grace United Church in Weyburn, SK with Rev. M. Barnabas celebrant. A private Family Interment was held at the Trossachs Cemetery, Trossachs, SK
We loved him dearly, as he loved us. No last goodbye, he was already knocking on Heaven’s Door.
