Joseph Kretschmer MB Obituary

Joe Kretschmer, MB,  late of Weyburn, SK passed away August 14, 2020 at the age of 62 years.

He was predeceased by his father, Joseph Paul Kretschmer; and his mother, Hildegarde Martha Kretschmer.

Joe is survived by his wife, Debbie Kretschmer; son, Cody (fiancé Karli Doidge) Kretschmer, Regina, SK, daughter Angela Kretschmer, Calgary, AB; son Curtis Kretschmer, Weyburn, SK; son Clinton Kretschmer, Weyburn, SK; Joe’s four sisters: Veronica (Allan) Dribnenki, Irene (Murray) Diederich, Barbara (Jack) Lange, Claudia (Rick) Diederich.Joseph Francis Kretschmer MB was born on June 8, 1958 in Goodsoil, SK to Joseph and Hildegarde Kretschmer.  Joey loved farming and hockey in his youth and bought the family farm.  The first 2 quarters in 1978 and the last 2 quarters in 1982.  He worked in a coal mine, was a driller on the rigs, a sawmill, irrigation farmer, fencing and tree work.  He was a jack of all trades.  He continued to farm and work rigs until 1988 when he sold and moved to Prince Albert, SK.  Joe met his wife, Debbie, in Prince Albert and they were married on December 15, 1990 in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Between 1995 and 2002, three sons and one daughter were born. In 2000, they moved to Kelvington, SK where he worked for farmers (fencing and tree work with his wife and kids).  In 2003, he pulled a man from a burning car and in 2008 he received a medal for bravery at the Rideau Hall in Ottawa, ON.  They moved to Weyburn, SK in 2011 where Joe resided until his death in 2020.  Joe was a hardworking man hindered by illness.  He taught his kids a good work ethic and was so proud of them.  Joe enjoyed farming, hockey, fishing, building trailers, building a treehouse and skating rinks for the kids, reading encyclopedias, inventing, making fire pits, watching sports, traveling and sharing his wisdom. He believed a person needed to work in order to play and had “work-a-holidays” with his family.  Joe’s humor, wisdom and pride will be sadly missed by his family and friends.
