Joseph Kot Obituary

Joseph Benedict Kot, late of Weyburn, SK passed away January 25, 2021 at the age of 93 years.

He was predeceased by his parents, George and Marianna Kot; his wife Corinne Kot; sisters and brothers: Annie, Mary, Caroline, Rose, Veronica, John, Louis, Gregory and Phillip;    sisters-in-law: Bridgette Kot, Adella Kot and Helen Kot; brothers-in-law: John McGough, Russel Soltys, John Vogel, John Schmidt and John Bauer.

Joe is survived by his stepchildren, David Macfarlane and Kim Macfarlane; and his brother Frank Kot; as well as numerous nephews and nieces.

Joe was born on November 14, 1927.  He grew up on the George Kot farm located near McTaggart, SK where he attended Muckamore School.

As said by his brother Frank, “Joe was a hard worker, he got covered in dust by plowing fields with horses and froze by feeding cows by hand in winter.”  He was a farmer through and through.

He loved to travel, enjoying many trips with his wife Corinne to places such as the Panama Canal, Ireland and other places throughout the world.  He also didn’t mind the occasional visit to the casino where Lady Luck was typically on his side.

He was fluent in Ukrainian and knew bits of other languages as well.  He enjoyed showing off his knowledge, as well as trying to help his nieces and nephews learn the different languages too.  One of his party tricks was reciting “milk” in five different languages.

Joe had a charming, kind soul, and he could always bring a smile to your face with one of his jokes.  He was giving, loving and warm and had the unique ability to make you feel important no matter who you were.  True to his “Kot” genes, he loved to talk! Whether the conversation be about the latest news or stories about the past – he always had an excited twinkle in his eye.

A Private Family Mass of Christian Burial was held Friday, January 29, 2021 at 3:00 p.m. from St. Vincent de Paul Roman Catholic Church, Weyburn, SK with Fr. Francis Plaparampil celebrant.  A Private Family Interment followed at the McTaggart Cemetery, McTaggart, SK.
