Jack was born in Yellow Grass on September 22, 1929 to Alfred and Undine (Chase) Hill. He attended Regina College, returned and worked at Hill Bros. owned by his Dad. He started farming in the late 1950’s. During this time, he started his career as Town Clerk, which later became Town Administrator. He spent 31 years in this position. He was extensively involved in the community, serving on numerous boards, committees and service groups.
Dad was born into a competitive sports minded family. He participated in baseball and hockey as a Wheat King, where he earned the honor of top scorer one season in the Soo Line Hockey Leaque. He was very proud of this accomplishment. The Hill family were passionate about curling. Dad was involved in curling for many years with notable success. He was instrumental in establishing Yellow Grass Minor Hockey and remained involved for many years as a coach and manager.
Jack enjoyed a round of golf, namely at Golf Kenosee, where they spent summers at their cabin for many years. He joined the bowling leaque when it started. They had Riders season tickets for 29 years and attended many provincial and national curling championships and Blue Jays games across the country. He was always up for a card game and in recent years at the care home he did countless word search puzzles.
Cremation has taken place. A service will be held at a later date.
He lived for his family – above all else. He led by example with intergrity, honour, kindness, respect and quiet strength. We will be forever proud and grateful for your guidance. Thank you, Dad.
