John Siourounis

John Siourounis, late of Weyburn, SK passed away on August 2, 2025 t the age of 73 years.

John was born in Vatheia, Arkadia, Greece.  He moved to Canada in 1969.  He lived in Toronto, ON then in Eastend, SK before moving to Weyburn, SK in 1982. He was a co-owner of the Weyburn Travelodge (previously the El Rancho Motel).  He was known for his big, welcoming personality.  Most of all he enjoyed sharing a conversation or meal with his loved ones, especially his grandchildren.

He was predeceased by his parents, Mihalis and Yeoryia Siourounis.

John is survived by his wife, Maria; son, Michael (Caitlin), daughter, Georgia (Jeremy); grandchildren, Hope, John and Kosta; siblings, Kosta (Vivi), Harry (Roni), George (Popie), Christina; his nieces and nephews and numerous other family in Canada and Greece.

Prayers were held on Friday, August 15, 2025 at 7:00 p.m. from RD Family Funeral Chapel, Weyburn, SK.

A Funeral Service for John was held on Saturday, August 16, 2025 at 10:00 a.m. from St. Paul’s Greek Orthodox Church, 3000 Argyle Road, Regina, SK with celebrant Father Sporodon Vandoros.  A Private Family Interment was held at Hillcrest Cemetery, Weyburn, SK.  Pallbearers were: Mike Siourounis, Jeremy Lavallee, Mike Siourounis, George Siourounis, Harry Siourounis, Nick Doulias, Louie Doulias and John Sirounis. A Celebration of Life took place at the McKenna Hall, 317 ~ 3rd Street, N.E., Weyburn, SK at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, August 16, 2025.

The family is immensely grateful to the friends, family and healthcare workers who supported John through his journey.
