Jim grew up in Forget with his parents and six brothers and sisters. There were too many stories to mention of all the trouble he got into with them; but everyone knew where there was trouble, he wasn’t too far away.
He was a “jack of all trades” from farming to mechanics to trucking, he could do it all. He held many jobs but his favorite job was being a loving husband, father, grandfather. He was also very excited about the latest furry addition to the family, Lucy the big, black puppy.
Jim loved a good laugh and always had a story to tell. He enjoyed coffee row and spent countless hours getting together with friends and co-workers. They were always solving the world’s problems with their infinite wisdom.
He was an exceptional crib player and spent many hours playing crib with friends and neighbors. The farm was the meeting place for these get-togethers. Coffee was always on, the crib board was ready and loonies were ready to be flipped.
The farm was a special place for him. He took pride in the yard and loved cutting grass, spraying weeds and just puttering around on his tractor.
He also loved going for Sunday drives with Marie, even though driving was his profession, he never tired of it and enjoyed the casual drives, going wherever the road took them.
His last job was as a bus driver. Those who knew Jim, would have been just as surprised as his family to learn that not only was he good at it, but he had patience and the kids really liked him.
In addition to his family finding out he had a soft spot for the kids, he also had a soft spot for his furry family, Shelby, Gizmo and Gremlin and now Lucy. His cats Gizmo and Gremlin, were spoiled rotten by Jim, but they sure had him trained well. They made sure he knew when it was bedtime and he had to go right now.
The family would like to invite everyone to a celebration of life at the farm by McTaggart. Dad really wanted to come home to the farm and it would mean a lot to wear your Rider Pride and remember him, telling stories and celebrating his life.
A Celebration of Jim’s Life was held on Saturday, November 8, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. from the Salisbury Farm at the crossroads of Range Road 2154 and Township Road 092. Judy Beck officiated.
As this is the CFL Western Final, please wear your Saskatchewan Roughrider gear to honor him. He loved cheering for them. Please bring your own lawn chair for sitting around, visiting and telling stories.
For family and friends so wishing, charitable donations in memory of Jim may be made to the Weyburn Humane Society, P.O. Box 1062,Weyburn, SK, S4H 2L3.
