Irene Caldwell Obituary

Irene Mary Caldwell, late of Weyburn, SK, formerly of Trossachs, SK, passed away peacefully on July 31, 2024 at the age of 93 years.

She was predeceased by her husband Lance Caldwell parents, Albert and Gabrielle Verbeurgt; her brothers, Douglas and Howard; parents-in-law, George and Wilhemina Caldwell; sisters-in-law: Eileen Verbeurgt, Jean (Phil) Stratulat, Inez (Lyle) Guest; brothers-in-law: Barry Armstrong, Ken Caldwell, Allan Caldwell, Lloyd Caldwell; and her son-in-law Gordon Myer.

Irene will be lovingly remembered by her family: her daughter Elaine Myer (Wayne) and her son Tyler Myer (Bailie) and their children [Ava, Layla], Leanne (Jimmy); son George Caldwell (Barb) and his daughter Bobie Caldwell-Dean (Mark) and their children [Lance, Lennox, Bristol, Brand]; son Blaine Caldwell and his son Dustin Caldwell (Kristin) and their children [Payton, Hannah, Hailey, Lance], Lacey Caldwell (Lee) and her children [Saijinn, Brae], Tifani Caldwell (Ryan) and their son [Denver]; son Roland Caldwell (Bobbie) and their son Logan and son Brodie Caldwell [Ella, Mavryk]. Irene is also survived by her siblings: Arnold Verbeurgt, Prosper Verbeurgt, Gilbert (Rosemarie) Verbeurgt, Doreen Armstrong; sisters-in-law: Kathleen Verbeurgt, Rosalind Caldwell, Karen Caldwell; along with numerous nieces and nephews. 

Irene was born February 7, 1931 on the farm at Ceylon, SK.  She married the love of her life, Lance Caldwell on April 10, 1956 in Weyburn, SK at the Anglican Church.  They moved to their farm north of Trossachs on April 16, 1956 where they raised their family. 

In her youth, she had a love for horses; racing horses at local sports days and would spend many hours herding sheep.  Irene enjoyed life on the farm and was a proud farm wife always contributing to the work that had to be done.

Time off the farm was usually spent attending the rodeos and horse sales.  Lance and Irene enjoyed playing cards, visiting neighbors, casino trips and polka music. 

Our heartfelt thanks to the staff at the Weyburn Special Care Home for her wonderful care received during her stay there.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held Thursday, August 8, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. from St. Vincent de Paul Roman Catholic Church, Weyburn, SK with Celebrant Fr.Valentine Amobi.  Honorary Pallbearers were Lacey Caldwell and Logan Caldwell.  Pallbearers were: Dustin Caldwell, Brodie Caldwell, Tyler Myer, Leanne Myer, Bobi Caldwell-Dean and Tifani Caldwell. Interment was held at Hillcrest Cemetery, Weyburn, SK with luncheon following at McKenna Hall, Weyburn, SK.
