Harvey Kent Crone

Harvey Kent Crone, late of Radville, SK passed away peacefully with his family by his side on May 3, 2024 at the age of 83 years.

He was predeceased by his parents, Brit and Evelyn Crone; siblings: George, Willa, Frank, Larry and Danny; brothers-in-law: Clayt Davidson, Ken McRae, Brent Davey; sisters-in-law, Donna Crone, Coreen Catherwood; nephew Ken Davidson; and his nieces, Carol Paynter and Laura Weightman.

Harvey is survived by his wife of 57 years, Shirley; his children: Sandra (Les) Henne, Wayne (Lori) Crone, and by Kristin (Travis) Mantta, Janelle (Kenton) Fisher and Shawn (CeeJay) Catherwood; grandchildren, Colton and Jetta Crone; sister Lois Davidson; sisters-in-law: Donna Crone, Marilyn Davey, Sheila Legault; brothers-in-law, Ken Catherwood, James (Tami) Catherwood; uncles: Keith (Loretta) Cooper, Harold Catherwood, Don Stockton; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Harvey was born in Radville, attended school in Radville and farmed at Radville.  He started farming at an early age and actively farmed until he was 80 when Shawn took over.  He continued his keen interest in the farm and was pleased that seeding the 2024 Durum crop was underway.

Harvey took ill April 2023 after which he became a resident of the Weyburn Special Care Home.  He was overjoyed when he was able to transfer to the Radville Marian Health Centre nursing home in November 2023.  He was back in Radville!

He enjoyed curling and managed the Radville Curling Club for several years.  After actively farming, he played cribbage with his friends at the Radville Community Centre twice a week.  His sister-in-law, Tami Catherwood, continued to challenge him to a game of cribbage when he was in the Weyburn and Radville care homes.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, July 19, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. from the Laurier Cemetery, Scatter Garden, Radville, SK.  A luncheon will follow at the Radville United Church, Radville, SK. 

In lieu of flowers, for family and friends so wishing, charitable donations in memory of Harvey may be made to Radville Marian Health Care Auxiliary, Box 459, Radville, SK, S0C 2G0 or the Radville Community Centre, Box 132, Radville, SK, S0C 2G0.
