Gail Denise Silljer, late of Weyburn, SK, passed away October 11, 2020 at the age of 65 years.
She was predeceased by her parents, Donald and Magdalene Pretty; brother, Gordon Pretty; mother-in-law, Yvonne Silljer; sister-in-law, Cindy Silljer and her husband Kim Wheeler.
Gail is lovingly remembered by her devoted husband, Edgar; sons, Tyler and Tyson and daughter, Kelsey (Travis Sonnenberg); her sisters: Donna (Bob) Dumont, Judy (Mel) Van Betuw, Lori (Glenn) LeDrew; sister-in-law, Sylvia (Keith) Baudria; brother-in-law, Clayton Silljer (Sharlene Stanley); as well as several nieces and nephews.
Gail Denise Silljer was born on August 26, 1955, second child of Don and Magdalene Pretty. Gail attended school at Talmage, Queen Elizabeth, Weyburn Junior High and Weyburn Comprehensive. Shortly after graduation, Gail began her career at Bank of Montreal. She held various titles over the years, but was always a dependable and favoured contact with her clients.
Gail loved growing up on a farm. She enjoyed being outside, whether it be rafting, exploring, snowmobiling or helping her Dad with farm chores. When she wasn’t outdoors, Gail was helping her Mom in the kitchen and house.
Gail married her true love, Edgar, on June 26, 1976. They had three children, Tyler, Tyson and Kelsey. Gail held family close to her heart and made it a priority above all else. She was a loving, devoted, and selfless wife, mother, daughter, sister and aunt.
Gail was an excellent cook and baker, especially of Scuffles and pies! Members of her extended family all had favourite “Gail treats”, which she baked for holiday gatherings. Interests throughout her life included camping, travelling, reading, playing cards or board games and tending her beautiful flower beds. Known by few, one of her other favourite pastimes was playing video games, especially with family members.
Gail was a compass for all of us, showing us the way to live, love and laugh. We are grateful for the lessons she taught us – bravery, courage, determination, a sense of commitment and the value of family.
A Private Family Graveside Service was held at Green Acres Memorial Gardens, Weyburn, SK with Pastor Tim MacKinnon officiating.
For family and friends so wishing, charitable donations in memory of Gail may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, 1910 McIntyre Street, Regina, SK, S4P 2R3 or STARS Air Ambulance, 2640 Airport Road, Regina, SK, S4W 1A3.
