Florence Bernice Benning

On July 7, 2023 we sadly said goodbye to Florence Benning who passed away peacefully with loved ones by her side. 

She was predeceased by her parents August and Rozina Dorwart; husband Ronald Benning; and grandson Mitchell Benning.

Florence is survived by her children: Diana (Marc) Bouchard; grandchild: Liesha (Scott) Williamson, great grandchildren August and Maisie; grandchild: Todd (Arlie) Bouchard, great grandchildren: Sophie, Rylin; grandchild: Tyler (Sherri) Bouchard, great grandchildren: Melanie, Cassidy, Emily, Marc, Isabelle; Patricia (Dale) Larsen; grandchild: Dustin Larsen; grandchild: Amber (Dan) Zandbeek, great grandchildren: Vivika, Inez; grandchild: Sienna (Ryan) Robillard, great grandchildren: Live, Kline, Vey; Rod (Regine) Benning, grandchildren: Adam (Katherine) Benning, Mason (Sasha) Benning; Toni (Ken) Turcotte, grandchild Ashley (Cody) Hofman, great grandchild Lucia, grandchild Jeremy (Shania) Turcotte; Lorna (Terry) Brothen, grandchildren: Dean (Willow) Brothen, Elie (Aryia) Brothen; Kevin (Barbara) Benning, grandchildren: Perry Benning, Matthew Benning.

Florence was born in Gravelbourg, SK on May 3, 1935 to August and Rose Dorwart and was raised on the family farm south of Weyburn, SK.

She met Ron Benning, the love of her life.  They married in October, 1955 and spent 53 wonderful years together. 

Florence’s life was her family, sewing, baking and gardening.  In her later years it was travelling with Ron and spending time with grandchildren and great grandchildren.

A huge heartfelt thank you to staff on 3rd floor at the Weyburn Hospital, who provided kind respectful care and comfort during Florence’s last days.

Prayers were held Tuesday, July 11, 2023 at 7:00 p.m. from St. Vincent de Paul Roman Catholic Church, Weyburn, SK.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held Wednesday, July 12, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. from St. Vincent de Paul Roman Catholic Church, Weyburn, SK with celebrant Fr. Valentine Amobi.  Pallbearers were: Tyler Bouchard, Dustin Larsen, Mason Benning, Jeremy Turcotte, Dean Brothen and Matthew Benning.  Interment was held at Green Acres Memorial Gardens, Weyburn, SK. Luncheon followed at McKenna Hall, 317 ~ 3rd Street, Weyburn, SK.
