Donn Charles Morton

Donn Charles Morton, late of Weyburn, SK passed away on December 11, 2024 at the age of 88 years.

He was predeceased by his parents, Paul and Estelle Morton; sisters, Gail (Walt) Galbraith, Linda (Ian) Walker; brother-in-law Randy Cooper; and his special cousin, Charles (Ada) Morton.

Donn is survived by his wife, Ethel; sister Barbara Cooper (Victoria, BC);  his children: Jayne Morton (Calgary, AB), Steven Morton (Richmond, BC) and Rob (Sihem) Morton (Ottawa, ON); his five grandchildren; one great grandson; and mother of his children, Janice; as well as nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Donn is also survived by Ethel’s family: Heather (Rick) Berendt (Edmonton, AB), James (Catherine) Proudfoot (Parksville, BC), and Wendy Proudfoot (Edmonton, AB); six grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.

Don was born at Innes, SK on January 29, 1936. He attended school at Griffin and Midale and after graduation he went to Regina College and the U of S in Saskatoon, where he received a degree in Mechanical Engineering.  He had many jobs which took him and his family across the country before settling at Kenosee Lake where he worked at the Kenosee Youth Camp before retirement and moving to Weyburn.

He had many hobbies including skiing, skindiving, kayaking, making copper miniatures which he shared with many friends and neighbors but his greatest love was his motorcycle.  He and his cousin Charlie went on many adventures together and in later years, adventures continued with John Weger.  They went on day trips to Yellow Grass, Griffin, Stoughton, Colgate and Midale for coffee with their old friends.  Donn loved camping and he and Ethel spent many winters camping on the beach in Mexico. Donn had a great sense of humour, loved life and loved people. 

A Come & Go Celebration of Donn’s Life was held on Saturday, May 3, 2025 starting at 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. from the Griffin Recreation Centre in Griffin SK.
