Derek Seitz Obituary

It is with extreme shock and overwhelming grief that the family of Derek Seitz announce his sudden passing on December 8, 2020 after a brief illness.  He passed away peacefully with his Mom by his side, who trustingly surrendered him into the loving arms of his Holy Mother, Mary and her son Jesus.

He was predeceased by his father, Harvey Seitz; grandparents, John and Magdalena Seitz, Adam and Anna Ziegler; cousin Jenean Hatlelid.

Derek is survived by his mother, Janice Seitz; his brothers: Jeremy (Bonnie) Seitz, Curtis (Shantel) Seitz and family [Keran and Sakoda], Matthew (Brandi) Seitz and family [Noah and Sadie]; special godmother, Carolyn (Dave) Wild; aunts and uncles: Jeanette (Martin) Klock, Dave (Mary Anne) Seitz, Casper Seitz, Art (Candy) Seitz, Judy (Trevor) Grant, Cheryl (Wade) Behrns, Glenn Ziegler (Tina), Dale (Charity) Ziegler, Donna (Dean) Warnke as well as numerous cousins, the Regina LGBTQ Community, and his countless friends and supporters.  

A Visitation for Derek was held December 11, 2020 at 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. from RD Family Funeral Chapel, Weyburn, SK.

A Private Family Mass of Christian Burial was held Saturday, December 12, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. from St. Vincent de Paul Roman Catholic Church. Weyburn, SK, with Fr. Francis Plaparampil celebrant. Honorary Pallbearers were all in attendance. 

Special thanks to Fr. Stephen Bill for his tremendous support to our family over the years especially for coming to anoint Derek for his final journey home.  Much thanks also to the staff in the SICU at the Regina General Hospital for their incredible support and understanding.  We want to also express our sincere gratefulness to the Regina LGBTQ Community and all of Derek’s amazing friends for their support and prayers.
