Delbert Allister Flaten, late of Weyburn, SK passed away March 26, 2022 at the age of 85 years.
He was predeceased by his parents, Nels and Svea Flaten; his brother Glenn Flaten; brothers-in-law, Herb Warden and Fred Wilson; and his sister-in-law Vie Flaten.
Delbert is survived by his wife of 62 years, Doris Flaten; his children: Gary (Mary Ann) Flaten and their family [Hailey and Katie]; Ray Flaten (Wanda Pleckham) and her son Charlie Pleckham; Teresa (Trent) Truscott and their son Spencer; brother Norm Flaten; sisters, Audrey Wilson and Bev (Don) Hansen; sister-in-law Shirley Flaten; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Del was born October 10, 1936 and attended Rockfield School and graduated from WCI in 1957. He then went to Saskatoon and obtained a diploma in agriculture. He took over the family farm south west of Weyburn after his Dad passed away suddenly on January 4, 1959. He married his love, Doris Grams on October 10, 1959 and they raised three children: Gary, Ray and Teresa.
Del served on many boards such as the Brokenshell Municipality, Lead 4H Calf Club, served on the Credit Union board, the 5th Street Nursing Home. He coached hockey, curled and went on many fishing trips. He loved his grandkids very much.
We travelled to many places, Norway 3 times, Greece, down south many times, Mexico many times, Venezuela, Barbados and Punta Cana.
A Service of Remembrance for Delbert was held Saturday, April 16, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. from Grace United Church, Weyburn, SK with Rev. M. Barnabas officiating. A Private Family interment will be held at Hillcrest Cemetery, Weyburn, SK at a later date.
