Debra "Debbie" Hubick Obituary

It is great sadness and much love we say goodbye to our beloved wife, mother, sister and friend Debra "Debbie" May Hubick (nee: Bleackley), who passed away at the Weyburn General Hospital on July 27, 2025 at the age of 69.

Debbie was predeceased by her parents, Don and Dorothy Grams; her grandparents, Hilda and Fraser Bleackley.

Debbie is survived by her loving husband of 48 years, Stan Hubick, her only child, Kalie Hubick; her brother and sister in law, Kevin and Arlene Grams; her sister, Brenda Grams; brother, Duane Grams; brothers in law; Howard, Wayne and David Hubick; sisters in law, Sharon Mula and Joan Lolacher and many friends and loved ones, all of whom Debbie spoke of with love in her final days.

Debbie was born in Moose Jaw, SK on November 27, 1955. And grew up in Ernfold, SK. She moved to Weyburn soon after her daughter was born and spent the rest of her days living there. It was then, in 1977 when she joined All Saints Anglican Church as a congregant. She was ordained Reverend Deacon Debbie Hubick on March 24, 2018. Debbie’s faith and dedication to God and ministry was central to whom she was and in all that she did. As was her love for people, her family, friends and church family.

Debbie worked at Weyburn General Hospital for 36 years. It was here where her deep sense of justice and fairness and activism shone. She was a CUPE Union President for 20 years and a member for much longer. She was smart and dedicated to making a difference for her coworkers and her fellow Union members. She made a large impact in her Union and the Labour movement locally, provincially and federally.

Debbie was a bright light who shined on everyone wherever she went. Debbie’s love and dedication to her family and friends will not be forgotten. She touched many lives and will be dearly missed by many.

A Funeral Service was held on Thursday, July 31, 2025 at 10:30 a.m. from All Saints Anglican Church Weyburn, SK with Archdeacon Catherine Harper officiating. Interment was held at Hillcrest Cemetery, Weyburn, SK. Luncheon followed at All Saints Anglican Church, 239 3rd Street NE, Weyburn, SK
