Dave was born, raised and went to school in Weyburn. He was in cadets for a few years. He loved going to the camps in Vernon, BC and Banff, AB in the summer where he got to try white water rafting, repelling, mountain climbing and various other things. When he was in Banff he was an instructor. He loved his life out there. From Banff he decided he was going to ride his bicycle home. He made it as far as Wilcox then hitch hiked home from there.
He worked at Larsen’s then Swayze’s mostly driving the gravel trucks. Then retired. He looked forward to trips to BC camping in the wilderness and doing his passion for gold panning. He fulfilled his dream of working in a gold mine but his dream only lasted one day. He discovered there was gold in SK. Wasn’t much but he had to show it to anybody and everybody. He didn’t get rich but loved every minute of doing it, hundreds of endless hours. Other than his gold panning, he led a quiet life.
