Darlene Hind Obituary

Darlene Ruth Hind, late of Radville, SK, passed away May 18, 2018 in the comfort of her home with her husband and family by her side.

Darlene was predeceased by her parents Joseph and Juliette Mickler; brothers Norman and Terry; sisters Sharon, Delores, Loretta and Gloria; son-in-law Jim; sister-in-law Bev; father and mother-in-law Vincent and Mable Hind; brothers-in-law Frank and Ab; and sister-in-law Eileen.

Darlene will be lovingly missed by her husband of 57 years Robert Hind; her children Sherry (Kevin), Charlotte (Darrell), Tracy, Harvey (Shawna), Bonnie (Lyle), and Karen; brother David; brothers-in-law Lionel, John and Delbert; sisters-in-law Ruth, Olive (Terry), and Joan (Del).  Darlene was blessed with and will be greatly missed by her sixteen grandchildren, four great grandchildren, as well as many nieces and nephews.

Darlene was born and raised in Gladmar, SK.  She worked at a café in Gladmar where she met the love of her life, Robert.  On October 29, 1960, Darlene and Robert were married and then settled down to raise their six children on a farm 3 miles south of Gladmar.

Darlene was a strong, proud, and loving woman.  When you visited Darlene, she made you feel like the most important person in the world.  You would never leave her home without having something to eat.  She was a spirited woman, with a great sense of humor and she strived for harmony in her world.  She was a great gardener; although we ate all the peas before she could make her famous homemade vegetable soup.  She was also an amazing cook.  Her cinnamon buns, rhubarb crisp, fudge, mustard, and Belgium waffles were like no others.  Darlene loved to do puzzles, play solitaire, and enjoyed a competitive game of cards.  She wasn't afraid of anything including new technology, she was quick to pick up and learn to use her iPad. Darlene was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and friend.  She will be missed dearly by all who knew her.

The family would like to sincerely thank the Radville Home care staff for their compassion and loving care of Darlene.

A Celebration of Life Come & Go Tea for Darlene will be held on Wednesday, August 1, 2018 at 1:00 ~ 4:30 p.m. from 733 Beckwell Avenue, Radville, SK.  Interment will be held at a later date at the Chapel Grove Cemetery, Minton, SK.

In lieu of flowers, charitable donations in memory of Darlene, may be made to Radville Home Care, c/o Sun Country Health Region, Box 2003, Weyburn, SK, S4H 2Z9 (please indicate it is for Darlene Hind) or the Lung Association of Saskatchewan, 1231 8th Street E., Saskatoon, SK, S7H 0S5.
