Clara Ness Obituary

Clara Catherine Ness, late of Weyburn, SK passed away June 15, 2021 at the age of 90 years.

She was predeceased by her parents, Sven and Isabelle Jorde; her husband Earl; daughter Sherry Kradovill; sisters, Annie Ellingson and Florell Stephan; brothers-in-law: Richard Stephan, Roy Ellingson, George Berger, Bill Berger, Harold Berg, Clarence Ness, Howard Ness, Delmar Ness, and Clifton Lund; sisters-in-law, Emily Ness, Darlene Lund; and son-in-law Hugh Kradovill.

Clara is survived by her daughters, Fay (Gerald) Holstein, Regina, SK and Marilyn (Kevin) Lindskog, Lloydminster, AB; six grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; sisters: Irene Berg, Pearl Berger, Alverna Berger; her brother Ivan Jorde; sister-in-law Joanne Jorde; numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Clara Catherine Ness was born to Sven and Isabelle Jorde on the 14th day of May, 1931 on the farm at Overland district.  She attended Overland school.

Clara met Earl in 1949.  Eventually they started dating and were married October 22, 1950.  They lived with Earl’s parents till the spring.  They then moved to the tiny Underburg’s house where Sherry was born.  Even though small, there were many great get togethers there.  In 1955 Fay was born.

Sherry was born with Asthma and chronic bronchitis so the doctor told them that the BC weather would be good for her.  They packed up and drove out to New Westminster and stayed with friends until they found their own place.  First time big city living saw high rents and no steady work.  After five months they settled back in Saskatchewan in Estevan.

In 1958 Marilyn was born.  In 1960 they moved to Weyburn and later moved to McTaggart.  Earl broke his leg so Clara started her working career.  She worked at Dixon Café, El Rancho, Town & Country café and then to Pioneer Village as a cook.  In 1975 she went to work at Souris Valley on the cleaning staff and worked there until her retirement.

In 1966 they bought their first and only house.  They lived there until 2001 when they moved to an apartment in Weyburn.

Clara was well known for her sewing, crocheting and making all kinds of crafts.  Everyone in the family received a crochet afghan from her.  All three daughters’ homes were decorated with her Christmas cards.  From the candy cane mouse, reindeer, Santa face, Father Christmas, Reggie the Raccoon and many other Christmas crafts.

And then there were her donuts.  They would be eaten as fast as she made them.  Any family gathering she would take some and people would be looking for them.  We sure will miss those.  And every time Marilyn came home there would be homemade brownies ready for her.

Clara looked forward to all holidays, hoping all the girls and grandkids would be coming home.  She would have the spare bedroom all cleaned up of her crafts.  We were met at the door with her doing her little dance that she did when she was excited.  After hugs she would go and turn the heat up so we wouldn’t be cold as the doors had been opened bringing in the luggage.

In 2002 they sold their house in McTaggart and moved into an apartment in Weyburn.  In 2014 Earl passed away and Clara then moved into a smaller apartment.  In 2017 she moved into the Weyburn Special Care home where she lived until her final days.
