Cecile Marie Burr Obituary

It is with great sadness that the family of Cecile Marie Jeanne Burr announces her passing on December 6, 2024, at the age of 88.

Born in Antler, Saskatchewan, on August 2, 1936, Cecile was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend.

Cecile married the love of her life. Rodney Burr, on August 19, 1959, and together they built a beautiful family and life.

She was predeceased by her devoted husband, Rodney Burr, her parents, Louis and Louisa Bauche; her siblings, George (Lucy), Albert (Jaquie), Michel (Sharon) and Paula Beck (Earl); her daughter, Cynthia Burr (Michael Ling); her granddaughter, Bailey; and her nephews, Richard Bauche, Harvey Bauche, Ron Beck and Jeff Beck.

Cecile is lovingly remembered and survived by her sons, James (Tabitha) of La Ronge, SK, and Timothy (Wendy) of Airdrie, AB; her grandsons, Mason, Marshall and Riley; her granddaughter, Bronwyn; her sisters-in-law, Sharon Bauche, Jacquie Beck, Florence Atkinson (nee Burr) (Terry) and many cherished nieces and nephews: George’s children: Lucille Cameron, Jackie Hala, Paula’s children: Kelvin Beck, Mike Beck, Keith Beck; Albert’s children: Giselle Bauche, Dean Bauche, Brian Bauche, Lisa Oliver; Michel’s children: Cheryl Harrison, Lorraine Royer, Wayne Bauche and Paul Bauche.

Cecile attended school in Antler and Belgarde.  After beginning a family in Redvers, where her husband, Rodney managed and eventually owned the Marshall Wells Store, Cecile worked at the Redvers Optimist.  In March of 1971, Cecile and Rodney moved their family to  Weyburn where Rodney managed the Co-op Furniture Department then the Farm and Home Centre, and Cecile worked at the Weyburn Review, and following that, the Weyburn Credit Union.

In 1991, when Rodney retired from the Co-op Farm and Home Centre, they moved to Hedley, British Columbia, where Rodney worked with the One Way Adventure Foundation until they returned to Weyburn in 1993.  While Rodney began a home renovation business, Cecile worked casually out of their home offering reflexology and massage services.

In Cecile’s spare time, she was a voracious reader.  She also spent many hours enjoying nature, taking long walks, and then translating what she saw through her watercolour painting.  She was an active participant in the local bowling league, and was involved in church and social groups throughout her lifetime.

Following Rodney’s passing in 2000, Cecile loved to spend time with her family, making numerous trips to visit her her son Jim and his wife, Tabitha and their children, Riley and Bronwyn in La Ronge; daughter Cyndi and her husband Michael in Boise, Idaho; and her son Tim and his wife Wendy and their children, Mason and Marshall in Airdire.  Her grandchildren will always remember her as an active participant in their lives, playing with the “sock ball”, taking the dogs for walks, attending hockey games and music performances as often as possible.  Cecile loved drives in the country and after she was unable to drive herself, she was happy when her sons or a friend would offer to take her.

She lived her life proud of her farm girl upbringing, and by the motto given to her by her beloved husband, Rodney, to “Keep on rockin’ and keep on truckin’.”

Her feisty love of life and family will always be cherished.
