It is with heavy hearts that we share that Carol Joyce Urban, of Fillmore, passed away on Monday December 12, 2022. She is survived by her children, Sandi (Jeff), Darren (Wanda), Grant (Alex), Glen (Adrienne) and “adopted daughter”, Yee (David); grandchildren, April, Stuart, Sydney (Dawson), Wade, Zachary, Evan, Landon, Tyson, Chase and Clay and great grandson Emmerson.
Carol also leaves her sister, Dorothy and in-laws Joan, Ken (Sue), Milo and Eileen as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her husband of 51 years Jerry, her parents Clifford and Mildred Good, in-laws John and Kathleen Urban; brother in laws, Tom, and Bill.
Carol was a teacher, a farmer and dedicated community volunteer. If the Blue Jays were playing or curling was on, do not bother calling unless you were willing to listen to game day analysis.
Carol’s biggest passion and joy were her numerous grandchildren and great-grandson. Whether it was baking cookies, making Halloween costumes, colouring Easter Eggs, attending Hockey Games and Dance recitals, making flash cards or babysitting duties, Grandma was front row / first in line. Love them or hate them, she always had her lists identifying short term and long-term tasks and goals. Her knack for making curling draws, organizing minor sports in the community, and most recently the many hours she spent assisting in the move and curating of the museum are only a few examples of her dedication to her community. Her passion for the museum, making sure everything was accounted for and no stories were left untold has kept her vibrant over the last few years.
A Celebration of Carol's life was held on Saturday, December 17, 2022 at 1:30 PM from The Fillmore Memorial Hall, Fillmore, SK with Sharon Elliott officiating. Interment followed in Fillmore Cemetery, Fillmore, SK. Donations in lieu of flowers may be made in memory of Carol to The Prairie Memories Museum of Fillmore.
