Bernice was born on November 10, 1937, in Bayard, Saskatchewan to Martin & Matilda Klepsch. She grew up with her sister Grace, and they were surrounded by family, music, and laughter — a foundation that carried through her entire life.
She married John Schneider, and together they raised three wonderful children: Denise, Tim, and Curt. During those years, Bernice owned and helped operate a successful landscaping company. She was known for her dedication, creativity, and strong work ethic. After parting ways with her first husband, John, Bernice remarried Bob Sperling, with whom she shared many years. Bernice later worked as a switchboard operator at the military base in Moose Jaw, where her cheerful voice and friendly manner brightened everyone’s day.
Bernice shared a deep love for her community through her involvement with the Eagles Club in Moose Jaw. She was president of the ladies auxiliary, and travelled to many places, made lifelong friends, and created countless memories. You could often find Bernice singing and dancing to the bands in the Eagles Club. She also enjoyed attending Polkafests all around Saskatchewan. She loved to dance with whoever she could.
Music was always a big part of Bernice’s heart. She was a talented organ player, and from an early age she shared that love of music with her sister Grace — the two often sang together for family, friends, and community gatherings. This carried on throughout her lifetime, singing was what brought her so much joy and she loved to share that with whoever she could.
Family holidays were the most important to Bernice as she cared deeply about traditions and family gathering together. Some of her kids and grandkids fondest memories surely include her infamous holiday feasts. Overnight buns, sausage rolls, perogies and wheat salad were a few of her specialties and topped the list of everyone’s favourites. I imagine the holidays in heaven this year will be very joyous with Bernice now joining so many people she loved.
Family meant everything to Bernice. She was a proud mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She loved her six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren more than anything. She celebrated every milestone, cherished every visit and every moment spent together. Her loyal dog Frankie was her constant companion and brought her endless joy — one she will surely be happy to reunite with in heaven.
Bernice will be remembered for her warmth, sense of humour, and the kindness she extended to everyone around her. She had a special gift for making people feel welcome and loved. Bernice could make just about anyone laugh with her witty jokes and humorous personality.
Bernice now joins her mom & dad - Martin & Matilda, her son Tim, her husband Bob, her grandson Justin, and her faithful dog Frankie in heaven. Her laughter, music, and gentle spirit will live on forever in the hearts of all who loved her. She will be dearly missed but is now free of all her earthly pains & troubles, dancing and singing in the arms of Jesus. This is not good bye, but simply see you later when we all meet again together in heaven
