Aurel Duane LaCoste

Aurel Duane LaCoste, late of Weyburn, SK, passed away on October 14, 2023 at the age of 84 years.

He was predeceased by his spouse Elisabeth; his parents, Armand and Bernice LaCoste; siblings: Darrell (Cecelia) LaCoste, Marilyn Williams, Sharon Patton; and sister-in-law Adell LaCoste.

Aurel is survived by his children: Gregory (Dolores) Hoffart, Sheila (Gary) Hovanak, Thomas (Teresa) Hoffart, Troy LaCoste and Kent (Lotus) LaCoste; grandchildren: Kim Hall, Brett Hoffart, Catherine Hoffart, Brendan Hovanak, Brianne Coghill, Erin Hoffart, Payden Garaas, Adanna LaCoste, Amy LaCoste, Dallas LaCoste and Devin LaCoste; ten great-grandchildren; his siblings: Kenneth (Lovey) LaCoste, Dwight (Connie) LaCoste, Vernon LaCoste, Leona (Herbert) Tessier and Marianna (Randy) Wick; and his dear friend, Betty Knibbs.

Aurel was born July 4, 1939, near Minton, SK.  He attended Harold School, after which he worked as an equipment operator for Ramsay and Bird Construction. And, later, at the Sybouts mine.  He met his future wife, Elisabeth, when she moved in next door.  They married on November 20th, 1970 and moved to the family farm with her three children. Together they had two more sons.  He farmed until 1990 after which he moved to Weyburn and worked for Larsen’s Redimix.  He later began a career at Jerry Mainil Ltd., where he worked until retirement.  In his later years, Aurel enjoyed camping, fishing and spending time with his family and his dear friend Betty. 

A Visitation for Aurel was held on Saturday, October 21, 2023 from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at RD Family Funeral Chapel, Weyburn, SK. 

A Funeral Service was held Saturday, October 21, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. from RD Family Funeral Chapel, Weyburn, SK with Sharon Elliott officiating. Pallbearers were: Kimberly Hoffart, Brett Hoffart, Amy LaCoste, Erin Hoffart, Dallas LaCoste and Devin LaCoste. Luncheon will be held at lower McKenna Hall, 317 ~ 3rd Street, Weyburn, SK.  Interment will follow at Chapel Grove Cemetery, Minton, SK.
