Alfred Michael Bell

Alfred Michael Bell, late of Radville, SK and formerly from Minton, SK passed away March 5, 2022 at the age of 93 years. 

He was predeceased by his parents, Michael and Frances Bell; his sons, Dwayne and Brian Bell; sister Margaret, sister in infancy; brother William; his son-in-law Harold Uytterhagen; and his 2 granddaughters.

Alfred is survived by his wife, Joyce; his children: Larry (Sharon) Bell, Marion Uytterhagen, Lorne (Ellen) Bell, Karen (Jerry) Knauss, Mark (Anita) Bell). Alfred was blessed with 20 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren; as well as his in-laws, nieces and nephews.

Alfred was born June 27, 1928 in Minton, SK. He married Joyce Kohl on November 24, 1949.  Together they have seven children.  They were later blessed with 20 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

Alfred worked at Minton Co-op until his retirement.  He was also a bus driver, carpenter, mayor, councilor, musician, farmer and a zoo keeper.

Alfred was always playing music – particularly the accordion, which he learned and played since early childhood.  He also played the banjo and guitar. 

On top of their other jobs, Alfred and Joyce had a zoo.  They raised elk, deer, llamas, fainting goats, emus, pheasants, chickens and geese to name a few.  His pride and joy, though, were his miniature horses.

Alfred was a member of the Radville Hospital board for many, many years and also served as a member of the Elks Clubs in both Minton and Regina. 

A Funeral Service for Alfred was held Friday, March 11, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. from RD Family Funeral Chapel, 1825 - 1st Avenue, Weyburn, SK with funeral celebrant Judy Beck.  Pallbearers were Alfred’s sons and grandsons: Larry, Ryan, Lorne, Dwayne, Mark and Carson.  Honorary Pallbearers were all in attendance.  Funeral luncheon followed at Captain’s Hall – 122 – 4th Street NE, Weyburn, SK.  Interment was held at Chapel Grove Cemetery, Minton, SK.
