Agnes Blackburn Obituary

Agnes Euphamia Blackburn (nee: Dickie) was born on May 20, 1934 at her family farm. She passed away January 2, 2023 at the age of 88 years.

She was predeceased by her parents Albert and Agnes; her husband of 46 years Dick; siblings: Norman, Frances, Ellen, Bella, Stanley and twin brother Henry; her son Delbert Blackburn; and granddaughter Taelynn Blackburn.

Agnes is survived by her children: Donnie, Donna (Garth), Doug, Darlene (Lawrence), Dean (Sherri) and Dickie (Nicole); grandchildren: Marcie, Shawn (Kayla Ann), Brad, John Richard (Mallory), Jeffrey (Sharri), Jesse, Euphamie, Richard, Brielle, Haiden (Rachel), Andrie, Cash, Carter and Mason (Breanna); 11 great-grandchildren; 6 great-great grandchildren; her sister Kathryn; as well as several nieces and nephews.

Agnes was born and raised in Creelman, SK.  She met Dick Blackburn and they married December 14, 1951 and raised seven children.  When Dad was alive, she loved going dancing with him and enjoyed music always.  The radio was always on when she was home.

Mom loved Creelman.  After retiring, she moved back to Creelman from Weyburn.  Mom always enjoyed helping others especially loved the Creelman Dinner Theatre.  She spent many hours cooking food, folding napkins and tablecloths and hanging coats up at the coat check.

Mom was a people person and always loved having people around, especially at Fair time.  She looked forward every year to family and friends coming home for a visit.  Many drinks and stories were shared then sitting around in her back yard.  Mom spent her spare time puttering around the yard looking after her flowers and crocheting, making hundreds of toques for Souls Harbour Rescue Mission in Regina.

The most important thing to mom was that her door was always open for everyone.  Whether it was a hot cup of coffee or a cold beer, all were always welcome.
