I (Jeff) was very fortunate to have had a Mother-in-law who cared for me and treated me like one of her own children... both Mel and Shirley have. I have remained pretty quiet up to now.
This woman was very strong and persistent all of the time I have been in the family. She could hold her own in a good argument with me and put me in place when I need it (lots). But when all was said and done there was always an I love you and a big hug. I will truly miss you Ma!! I won't have anyone to poke good German Jokes about any more.
May you rest in eternal peace!

My big sister Shirley came to me in a dream the other night. Together we stood embraced in front of 2 very large beautiful glass doors. Bright sun rays penetrated the glass. She felt so warm and her skin so soft. No words were spoken. Our embrace felt so peaceful, so comforting, so real. Then she slipped away leaving me with so much warmth in my heart. I will love and miss her always.

My dear sweet Auntie Shirley. As I write this, it’s just hard to imagine that you are no longer with us. Some of my most favourite and best childhood memories include times spent with you. You were a force, a woman who I loved and admired. Your soul contained a fire that lit up the world as you waked your path in this life, always bright even after the red changed to glitter in your hair. I could always count on the best most firm hugs from your arms and the most hilarious remarks from your mouth. I will carry all these memories with me in the coming days and years. To everyone feeling this immense loss, I am so sorry. You are all on my mind, in my prayers and on my heart.
Rest easy Auntie Shirley. I love you. God Bless you.
Love Carrie
