Arthur Robert Mowles

Arthur Robert Mowles, late of Stoughton, SK, passed away on November 1, 2018 at the age of 96 years.

Arthur Mowles was born on September 2, 1922. Art is predeceased by his wife Myrtle; grandson Jerry Jr. Smallwood; parents Arthur and Ada; brothers: Ernie, Rupert; sisters: Ivy Harris and Joyce Koster.

Art is survived by his children: daughter Darlene (Neil) McLaren; grandson Travis McLaren (Jen); son Jerry (Sharon) Smallwood; grandson Jeff (Taunya) Smallwood; great grand daughter Ava; sisters: Margaret Lee-Shold, Doreene Rowe, Noreene Johner; brothers-and sisters-in-law: Bob and Betty Graham, Isabelle Hemphill, Margaret Robinson, Don and Charlene Graham, Lauranne Hemmingway, Mae Corcoran, Carol and Vern Lindsey, Vi and Marcel Stocker; along with numerous nieces,nephews, great and great-great nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A Celebration of Life was held Saturday, November 17, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. from Stoughton Legion Hall, Stoughton, SK with Master of Ceremonies Mr. Peter Piper. Interment was held Saturday, November 17, 2018 at 12:30 p.m. from Heward Cemetery, Heward, SK.

Art was the third of eight children born to Arthur and Ada on the farm on September 2, 1922. On December 14, 1944 he and Myrtle married in Heward. Art and Myrtle farmed in the Heward District until 1992. They moved to Weyburn in 1993. They enjoyed square dancing and attended dances near and far.  Art was a life time member of the Stoughton Legion.  He was a Sergeant At Arms for 33 years on Remembrance Day and at many parades. Art’s hobbies included calling Bingo, square dancing, carpentry and gardening.
