John Grigg Obituary

John Richard Grigg, late of Weyburn, SK passed away on March 20, 2024 at the age of 71 years.

He was predeceased by his parents, Audrey and Ralph Grigg; his mother and father-in-law, Muriel and Hugh Brotheridge; and his nephew Willi Hamm.

John is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Bev; son Tyler (Stefany); daughter Micha (Tanner Soroka);his grandchildren: Alydia, Kelsey, Hayleigh, Remey and Evie; sister Jane (Joel Bortnick), his brother Michael; sister-in-law Lori (Bill) Nizinkevich; brother-in-law Neil (Debbie) Brotheridge; nieces and nephews: Chris (Allison) Hamm, Dieter Hamm (Jen Dreger), Jana Nizinkevich (Mike Franklin), Jackie (Ryan) Forsberg, Jim Brotheridge (Rhiannon Ward), Michelle (Troy) Davis, Terri Davies (Bart Lutz) and Jessica (Shane) Ludtke; as well as many, many dear friends and extended family.

John was born in Regina, SK on December 29, 1952 to Ralph and Audrey Grigg.  The oldest of three children, he made an impression on the world right from the start.  There are many, many tales of John’s escapades as a young man.

John met Bev in high school and soon after started dating.  They married in 1973 and moved to Saskatoon so John could attend Kelsey to pursue a career in Water Sciences Technology.  After finishing school, John and Bev moved to Regina where he began his career.

John and Bev bought their first home on MacKenzie Crescent in Regina where many happy memories were made with friends, family and neighbors.

The only thing in life John and Bev wanted most was to be parents.  Their dream came true in 1981 when their son Tyler was born.  Their daughter Micha followed in 1985.

They moved to Weyburn in 1985 where they built their home and raised their family and John met his lifelong friends and partners in crime, the croquet club.  They have shared many shenanigans over the years.

In 1990, John and Bev partnered with Bill and Shelley Kievits to open Prairie Greenhouses.  Over the years their partnership became a family.

John and Bev were over the moon when Tyler met Stefany and they gained three grandchildren, Alydia, Kelsey and Hayleigh.  They couldn’t believe their luck when Tyler and Stefany announced they were having another child and Remey arrived on the scene.

They were overjoyed when Micha and her husband Tanner announced another grandchild was on the way and Evie joined the family in 2021.

John was a gregarious guy with a huge and generous heart.  He loved to share his repertoire of jokes with anyone who would listen.  He was a wonderful husband, father, grandpa and friend and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
