Ivan Haddad Obituary

Ivan Hubert Haddad, beloved husband, brother, and veteran, passed away peacefully at his home on April 18, 2024 at the age of 87.  He was born on July 29, 1936 to Theophile and Eva Haddad, joining a large family of siblings whom he cherished deeply.

Ivan was predeceased by his parents, Theophile and Eva Haddad; brothers: Edmond, Jim, Fred, Ronnie and Roger; his parents-in-law, Don and Tillie Barrett; and his sister-in-law Dawn Ross.

He is survived by his loving wife, Wendy Haddad; his brothers, Camille and David (Judy); sisters, Jean (Ab) Beaulieu and Irene Dionne. He is also remembered fondly by his sisters-in-law: Dory Lake, Terry Anderson, Genie (Garnet) VanDeSype, Sue (Kerry) Nimegeers; and his brothers-in-law Bradley Barrett and Harvey Barrett.

Ivan and Wendy were married in 1975, and after spending most of their time in Plaster Rock, New Brunswick, they made the move to Radville, SK in 1999 where they spent the last 25 years enjoying prairie life.

Sergeant Ivan Haddad dedicated 25 years of his life in service to his country as a Peacekeeper and Paratrooper with the Princess Patricia’s Canadian Light Infantry (PPCLI).  He proudly served on numerous missions with United Nations Peacekeeping Force, including an assignment in Cyprus in 1971.  Ivan’s commitment to duty and his fellow soldiers earned him the respect and admiration of all who served alongside him.

After retiring from the military, Ivan remained actively involved in his community, becoming a 50-year veteran and active member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Weyburn Branch #47.  His dedication to service extended beyond his military career as he continues to support and advocate for his fellow veterans and their families.

Ivan Haddad leaves behind a legacy of courage, honor and selflessness. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends and all who had the privilege of knowing him.  His memory will forever live on in the hearts of those whose lives he touched, including numerous nieces and nephews, all of whom held a special place in Ivan’s heart.
