Sidney Alvin Lindskog, late of Weyburn, SK passed away peacefully in his sleep on February 3, 2016, at the age of 90 years.

Sidney was predeceased by his parents: Ivor and Sophie Lindskog; his twin sisters: Ellen Frederick, Edna Lindskog; his brother Gordon Lindskog; father and mother-in-law: Arnold and Ethel King; brothers-in-law: Bill Frederick, Ron King, Keith King; sister-in-law Dora King; great nephew Ryan Lindskog.

He is survived by his loving wife Dorothy Lindskog of 66 years; sons: Stan Lindskog (Sylvia), Regina, SK, Steven Lindskog (Donna), Regina, SK; daughter Verna (Roman) Mitura, Stittsville, ON; grandsons: Duane (Tamara) Lindskog, Regina, SK, Darren (Andrea) Lindskog, Warman, SK, Devin (Christine) Lindskog, Regina, SK,  Jeff (Leah) Lindskog, Regina, SK, Erick Mitura (fiancé Marina Crews), Yellowknife, N.W.T, Owen Mitura (friend Meghan Walsh), Stittsville, ON; granddaughter Barbara Lindskog, Toronto, ON; great grandchildren: Damion, Shantaira, Dallas, Dawson, Austin, Sean, Sarah, Emily; sisters-in-law: Gail King, Phyllis Lindskog, Margaret Procknow; as well as many nieces, nephews and friends. 

Sidney was born on August 7, 1925 on the family farm south west of Neptune.  He attended Apollo School until grade 11 when he was needed to help his father with the farm work. In the winters of 1946 -1948, he went to work for Arnold King, hauling coal, gas by the barrel and farm animals to Regina and mail to Weyburn.  This is when he met his future wife Dorothy. He began his career of farming in 1948 and in 1949 he and Dorothy were married and lived in Neptune until 1956.

In 1955 he bought the farm from Tommy Dawson.  He loved farming and raising cattle.  He also found time to sit on the Colgate Radville Centralized School Board for 19 years.  He was a crop inspector for P.F.A.A. (Prairie Farm Assistance Act)  for 10 years and caretaker of the Neptune Cemetery for 33 years, and drove a bombardier in winter for awhile to get the school children to Colgate. We also found time to do a lot of camping and spent 29 winters in Mesa, Arizona. We retired and moved to Weyburn in 1984.  There he kept a beautiful yard and raised a large garden.  He was also a handyman for anyone who needed help and all he asked for in return was a cup of coffee.

Cremation has taken place. A Graveside Service for Sidney was held at Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery, Maxim, SK, on Monday, June 6, 2017 at 1:00pm with Reverend Martin Olson officiating. 

Special thanks to Dr. Beheshti for his compassionate, loving care and all the nurses and staff on 3rd floor in the Weyburn General Hospital for your devoted care the past two months.

Sidney will always be remembered as a devoted husband and a wonderfully supportive father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle and friend. 

I believe when a man grows old and sums up his days, he should be able to stand tall and feel pride in the life he’s lived.
