Welcome to the memorial page for

Sandra Mryglod

January 9, 2017

It is with great sadness that the family of Sandra Mryglod shares the news of her passing on Monday, January 9, 2017 in Weyburn at the age of 74 years.

Sandra was predeceased by her son Glenn; parents: Alex and Thecla Peleck; brother Michael Peleck.

Sandra is survived by her loving husband of 53 years Norman; daughter Theresa Hes; granddaughter Alexsandra Hes; sister Rosemary (Gunther) Walz; brother Peter (Marge) Peleck; sister Stephie (Earl) McGill; sister-in-law Marilyn (John) Lewington; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Sandra was born in Beton-Bazoches, France on July 7, 1942 to Alex and Thecla Peleck, the youngest of 5 children.  Her parents, both from different parts of Ukraine, moved to France to work on a dairy farm, met and later married in this small north central community.  She, with her siblings attended school there, walking back and forth at least a mile each way. When Sandra was 10, her family immigrated to Canada.  Working hard with her family to make the most of their new lives, she excelled at school, was fluent in Ukrainian and French and had a beautiful singing voice (a member of the church choir).

A stunning beauty, she met Norman in Winnipeg and they married on May 25, 1963.  As newlyweds, they settled down in Weyburn, Norman's hometown.  Soon after, they began construction on their first home, then, together, welcomed and raised their children, Theresa and Glenn.

Sandra worked for the city of Weyburn as a secretary to the mayor, to the police chief and the city clerk and as Norman's business grew she also assisted there.

Sandra loved to garden, bountifully harvesting a variety of vegetables and fruit every year. Her flower beds, pots and yard were breathtakingly gorgeous.

As avid golfers, they so enjoyed hitting the course.  Sandra, a force to be reckoned with, was an excellent golfer, held the position of captain of the woman's club and achieved the club championship status several times.

Although they travelled all over the world, Hawaii remained their ultimate favorite.  Vacationing there over 30 times, it was definitely their second home, meeting treasured lifelong friends and it will always hold special memories of wonderful times.

In 1974 they built their second home on McGillivray Bay.  Sandra knew exactly the layout she desired and was the chief designer and architect of those plans.  They worked tirelessly together to make this dream a reality.  She kept their home and yard immaculate. Holidays and celebrations were very important to her and she strived to make every occasion special for her family and friends.  Sandra's meals were second to none - an amazing cook who took pride in preparing everything from the simplest dishes to the extravagant Ukrainian feasts to everyone's delight, of course.

In 1991, tragedy struck when their son, Glenn was suddenly taken in a horrific accident.  The single most devastating, life altering grief for any parent to bare.  The crushing pain never leaves your heart and that hole is never filled.  Friends and family held them close to aid in the healing process.  Sandra is now reunited with Glenn which gives us comfort.  Long walks with friends and conversations that accompanied most mornings were especially therapeutic for her.

When Alex was born in 1998, Sandra couldn't have been more thrilled that we named our new addition after her.  Wow! A little girl to spoil and cherish.  As the years went by and Alex's accomplishments grew and grew, you could see that she made Baba and Gigi extremely proud as they boasted about her every chance they got.

Sandra was the epitome of hard work and dedication.  Always a class act, she dressed, acted and approached life with such style and grace and is so very cherished by her family and many friends.

When cancer took over and tried to defeat her, she fought hard and never gave up.  This is when she joined the Crocus Villa family in order to help her with the daily challenges that were to come.  We are very grateful for the love, care and attention that was always shown by them, by Dr. Matiza, her other many doctors, caregivers, nurses, friends and family. Through the chemo and the endless challenges, the strength she showed was nothing short of inspiring.  Her strong faith in the Lord and her undying spirit will always be admired.  We will miss her immensely.  Sandra was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and friend.

A Service of Remembrance to celebrate Sandra's life and mourn her passing was held Monday, January 16, 2017 at 11:00am from RD Family Funeral Chapel, Weyburn, SK with Father Gerry Bauche celbrant.  Interment will be held at Hillcrest Cemetery, Weyburn, SK at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, family and friends so wishing, charitable donations in memory of Sandra may be made to a charity of your choice.

God saw you getting tired,

A cure was not to be.

He wrapped you in His loving arms

And whispered “Come with Me”.

You suffered much in silence

Your spirit did not bend.

You faced your pain with courage

Until the very end.

You tried so hard to stay with us.

Your fight was all in vain.

God took you in His loving arms

And freed you from your pain.

A golden heart stopped beating

Two gentle hands at rest

God broke our hearts to prove to us

He only takes the best.
