Welcome to the memorial page for

Olive Stadnick

June 18, 2016

Olive Marion Stadnick, late of Weyburn, SK, passed away on June 18, 2016 at the age of 91 years.

Olive was predeceased by her husband Mike Stadnick; her parents: John and Emilia Strandlien; younger brother Morris and brother Ernest.

Olive is survived by her step-son Myron (Flory) Stadnick, Regina, SK; grandchildren: Myrl (Bonnie) Stadnick, Rochester, MN and their son Joshua Stadnick, Edmonton, AB, Dyon (Rhonda) Stadnick, Carnduff, SK and their children Rayna and Kwynn, as well as many good friends.  Olive passed away peacefully on June 18, 2016 at the Weyburn General Hospital. She will be greatly missed by all.

Olive was born January 12, 1925 to John and Emilia Strandlien.  She grew up on a farm north of Lake Alma and attended Bird's Hill School in Lake Alma.

Olive did housekeeping for her father and brother.  Her father moved to Lake Alma and when he was in need of care she went to live with him and care for him until his passing.  She worked part-time at the post office for Hollis and Bernice Hoimyr, at the general store in Lake Alma for Rick Redenburg and later for Gerald and Pauline Howard.

She married Mike Stadnick on June 20, 1973 and lived in Oungre.  Even though he was confined to a wheelchair she continued to care for him at their home until his passing on November 28, 1980.

Once alone she had to learn to drive a car which took a few tries and trips to Weyburn.  She was then able to get a job at the concession at the Oungre Park.  She worked there from the fall of 1981 to September 1990.  That fall she fell and broke her hip so had to retire, but she still enjoyed going to the park for visits with many good friends.

She suffered a stroke in 2011 and then went to Weyburn Special Care Home until her passing.

Olive attended Hamar Lutheran Church in Bromhead and belonged to the ELW there. She enjoyed reading books, watching TV and visits with her friends in the area.  She enjoyed her cat, Caley, and any other cat or dog that came her way.  She loved to watch the birds from her window and always laughed at the squirrels that came for the peanuts in her feeders.

Like her brother Ernest, Olive was a true "Norwegian" often stubborn and very determined.  She was always there to help anyone who needed help, a good friend to many and a loving and caring mother, grandma, and great grandma.

A Service of Remembrance for Olive was held on Thursday, June 23, 2016 at 10:30am from the Hamar Lutheran Church, Bromhead, SK with Pastor Cicely McDougall officiating.  Honorary pallbearers were all in attendance.  Lunch followed at the Hamar Lutheran Church.  Interment took place at Nordalen Cemetery, Lake Alma, SK.

For family and friends so wishing, charitable donations in memory of Olive, may be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Saskatchewan, 1738 Quebec Avenue, Unit #26, Saskatoon, SK, S7K 9S1.
