Welcome to the memorial page for

Marlene Sherrow

May 21, 2017

It is with great sadness that the family of Mildred Marlene Sherrow announces she passed away peacefully on May 21, 2017 at the age of 78 years at the farm she loved and worked so hard on.

She was predeceased by her parents: William and Ada Jordan; father and mother-in-law: Gerald and Rosealie Sherrow; sons: Randy and Brad Sherrow; four brothers; three sisters; two sisters-in-law; several brothers-in-law; two nephews; as well as numerous friends.

Marlene is survived by her husband of 62 years Lyle “Bud” Sherrow; daughter Laurie (Kevin) Mason;  son Shaun Sherrow; grandsons: Brenden and Morgan Sherrow; daughter-in-law Heather Sherrow; sister Elsie Newans; brother-in-law Donald (Isabelle)  Sherrow; sisters-in-law: Edith Dorsch, Dorothy Stalberg, Phyllis (Ernie) Sonnenberg, Gae (Harvey) Gall, Karen Jordan; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law and friends.

Born October 19, 1938 in Goodwater, SK she grew up and attended school where she had many school friends even to this day.  Mom loved sports of all kinds, track and field, where she won many ribbons, baseball, and her greatest passion curling. She played mixed as well as ladies' which she travelled throughout southeast Saskatchewan for bonspiels even in the worst prairie winter storms.

In 1954 she met the love of her life, Lyle (Bud) Sherrow at a dance in Halbrite, SK.  The following year they married on April 29, 1955.  On August 31, 1955 their first son Randy was born followed by Laurie on October 6, 1956.  Dad had worked on the oilrigs which had them moving to many communities in Saskatchewan and Alberta where they made many good friends.

On June 16, 1960 second son Bradley was born. In 1963 the family moved back to the Sherrow farm.  In 1965 they took over the farm as Grandpa and Grandma Sherrow retired to Weyburn.  She worked hard on the farm with having a huge garden and even a huge potato patch which she would make the best potato soup in Saskatchewan.  Mom also loved animals as we had many on the farm: cattle, pigs, chickens, cats and dogs.

Number three son, Shaun, was born July 29, 1970.  The highlight of Mom and Dad's life came on October 2, 1994 when their first grandson, Brendon was born.  Mom was the happiest Grandma ever.  Two years later, number two grandson, Morgan was born September 29, 1996.  She was the proudest, best Grandma ever.  She loved to spoil them with her baking, cooking, and love.

One of Mom's greatest pleasures was visiting over coffee with her neighbor and best friend Joy.  Lots of stories and laughter in their kitchens or decks over the years!  Another pleasure of Mom's was Thursday lunches with her dear friends and sisters-in-laws.

A Service of Remembrance for Marlene was held Saturday, May 27, 2017 at 11:00am from Grace United Church, Weyburn, SK with Rev. M. Barnabas officiating.  Lunch was held at Upper Grace Hall, Weyburn, SK.  Interment followed at the Halbrite Cemetery, Halbrite, SK where balloons were let go in her memory.

For family and friends so wishing, charitable donations in memory of Marlene (Mom) (Grandma)  may be made to the Canadian Arthritis Society,  2550 12th Avenue, Suite 202, Regina, SK, S4P 3X1 or Canadian Liver Foundation, 75B Lenore Drive, Saskatoon, SK, S7K Y71 or a charity of choice.

Mom's greatest pleasure was to dance, sing, and laugh.  So let's all remember this beautiful lady and live, laugh and most importantly love one another.
