Welcome to the memorial page for

Kleda Grieve

March 23, 2017

It is with deep sadness the family of Kleda (Polischuk) (Harrach) Grieve announce her passing on March 23, 2017 at Hilltop Manor, Weyburn, SK, at age 93.

Beloved mother to Ken Harrach (Lita), Carol Honig (Mervin), Bill Harrach (Diane) and Dave Harrach (Dawn), nine grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren; and loving sister-in-law to Ruth Polischuk (Orangeville, ON).

Predeceased by her first husband, Ross Harrach (1988), second husband, Angus Grieve (1992), grandson Dale Honig (2003), brother Bill Polischuk (2008) and sister Ann Jamison (2008).

Kleda was born in the tiny village of Boczanica, Poland, in the present day Ukraine to Joseph and Pearl (Skoruk) Polischuk. The family immigrated to Canada on the steam ship, (SS Montcalm) arriving in Halifax, Nova Scotia, on January 16, 1932, eventually settling in Daysland, Alberta.  Pearl passed away in 1936, and Kleda at the age of 12 had to fill her mother's shoes and care for her father and two younger siblings.  Prior to the war the family moved to Toronto, ON.  During the war years Kleda worked in several factories doing her small part for the war effort.

Kleda married Ross in 1944 and they had four children in the years that followed.  The family moved to Manitoba and then to Saskatchewan where Kleda spent the rest of her life. Kleda married Angus Grieve in 1969 and settled in Swift Current, SK.  After his passing she moved to Moose Jaw and eventually Weyburn to be closer to family.

Kleda was a courageous woman who faced many challenges in her life but always maintained a positive attitude.  She was easy going and never complained. Kleda was a classy lady, always impeccably dressed.  She loved gardening and was known for her large African violet collection.  You would be hard pressed to find a single weed in her garden!  She loved to pick berries and that meant she would be baking delicious pies.  She was an awesome cook and kept family and friends supplied with her delicious perogies, cabbage rolls and homemade bread and buns.  Kleda was an immaculate housekeeper and loved to entertain.

A celebration of Kleda's life was held on April 1, 2017 at 2:00pm from RD Family Funeral Chapel, Weyburn, SK with Rev. M. Barnabas officiating.  Interment will be held at Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Swift Current, SK at a later date.

For family and friends so wishing charitable donations in memory of Kleda may be made to Hilltop Manor, 356 6th Avenue S, Weyburn, SK, S4H 3N5.
