Dora Lucille King

Dora Lucille King, late of Colgate, SK passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on January 27th, 2016, at the age of 84 years.

Dora was predeceased by her parents: Alice and Kris Eggum; her husband Ron King; first husband George Paxman; brothers: Reg, Melvin and Norman Eggum.

Dora is survived by her children: Walter (Jo-Ann) Paxman, Weyburn, SK, Dora-Lynn (Tom) Culbertson, Halbrite, SK, Darwin (Cathy) Paxman, Colgate, SK,Curtis (Gail) Paxman, Colgate, SK; grandchildren; great-grandchildren; sisters: Ellen Fehr, Gladys (Ernie) Lokken; brothers: Kris (Sharon) Eggum, Nels (Elaine) Eggum; sisters-in-law: Sharon Eggum, Helen Eggum, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Dora was born May 31, 1931.  She grew up on her parents, Kris and Alice Eggum's farm at Halbrite, SK and enjoyed the farm life all of her days.  Dora attended White Rock school near Halbrite and took her grade 12 by correspondence and then taught school in Milestone.

She moved to Colgate where she met George Paxman and they were married in 1954.  Together they had four children. They farmed together and took in oil field workers.  She loved her milk cows, ran a store in Colgate and the Post Office. Dora was also a Sunday School teacher, enjoyed Explorers, and a member of the United Church Women.

In 1981, Dora married Ron King and they moved to Manitou Beach where she managed a motel.  In 1989, Dora and Ron moved to Halbrite where they operated a store and restaurant until 2003 when they moved back to Colgate to retire. 

Dora always enjoyed her birds, her flowers, playing cards, scrabble, and the children in the Colgate area.

A Service of Remembrance for Dora was held on Friday, March 11, 2016 at 1:00pm from RD Family Funeral Chapel, Weyburn, SK with Reverend M. Barnabas officiating. Honorary Pallbearers were all in attendance. Interment was held at Green Acres Memorial Gardens, Weyburn, SK with lunch to follow at The Captain's Hall, 122 4th Street, Weyburn, SK. 

For family and friends so wishing donations in memory of Dora may be made to a charity of one's choice.
