With heavy hearts we announce husband, father, grandfather and friend David Hoff, late of Weyburn, SK, has passed away at the age of 89.
David was predeceased by his parents Henry and Marjorie Hoff; and his 5 siblings.
David is survived by his wife Margaret Hoff, Weyburn, SK; son Terry (Janet) Hoff, White Rock, BC, daughter Carolyn Hoff (Russ Powers), Foothills, AB; granddaughter Meagan Powers; brother Danny (Alice) Hoff, Lethbridge, AB; as well as numerous nephews and nieces.
Dave was born in Mair, Saskatchewan on December 2, 1928. He was the third son, and one of seven children, of Henry and Marjory Hoff.
While working with P&H Elevators and playing baseball in Fairlight, SK, he met the love of his life, Margaret Down. They were married in August 1953, and shortly thereafter moved to Weyburn where Dave had been recruited to pitch for the Weyburn Beavers baseball club. Choosing to settle in Weyburn, Dave initially became involved in the car business, but the majority of his working years were spent with long-time friend Herman Lackey in the auction business.
Dave was an avid sports participant and fan. Following his earlier years in baseball and hockey, he was a prominent curler, eager golfer and keen fisherman. The Blue Jays became his devoted sports interest later in life.
More than anything Dave enjoyed spending time with family and friends.
Dave’s family express their gratitude to the dedicated health care professionals and practitioners in Weyburn and Lampman, where he was given the best possible care in his remaining months.
A Celebration of David's life was held at a Come & Go Social Gathering on Friday, February 9, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Captain's Hall, 122 4th Street NE, Weyburn, SK.
For family and friends so wishing, charitable donations in memory of David may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Saskatchewan, Suite 301, 2550 12th Avenue, Regina, SK, S4P 3X1.
